Kent Bee-keepers’ Association – new website

During one of my surfs through the web for news, I spotted that the Kent Bee-keepers’ Association have just launched their new website.

This is a great find; we’ve been made aware of the potential effect on our environment from the reported declining numbers of bees, so I’m more than happy to spread the word.  Perhaps we can get a report on how this year has actually turned out to be for our bees in Kent.

There’s some useful information for us there, for instance, a list of who to call if you come across a swarm of bees, details of bee-keeping courses, local newsletters, and all kinds of invaluable bee-keeping information.  Wonderful stuff!

This is great fun, coming across such gems – I’ll seek out something new at least twice a month.  Suggestions welcome, and guest bloggers.

  1. I live in Birchington in a little semi. At the side of my house I have a small shed, with a paved path leading up to it. Where the paving stops there is a step down to the floor of the shed. Bees have taken up residence under the last paving stone. They are quite calm unless we make lots of movement in the shed and then the buzz a bit. They are very dark brown, not too large, and have a yellow bit on the bottom of their body. I feel they are at risk where they are and I am shortly having some building work done in this area. They may get aggressive, but so may the builders!! It will be very disruptive for them and the builders wont like it I am sure.

    What should I do?

Please advise asap as time is of the essence.

    Many thanks
